MUV's approach addresses urban challenges in a comprehensive way by using bottom-up and top-down processes:
Urban mobility is a starting point: an urban issue that involves and impacts everybody in the present and in the future.
Mobility challenges might be environmental, social, economic, cultural and a mix of those.
Facing it a the neighborhood/community level let you involve people in a long-term process where benefits can be directly experienced.

It's just a matter of active listening: study available data, talk with your community and remember to involve people from the Municipality, the Transport Authority, activists organizations and researchers from day 1 (be patient, they will, sooner or later, trust you).
Try to focus on a specific area (neighborhoods you have direct connections with) or a specific target groups (students, employees..).
Use OKRs, if you are familiar with that, and set clear goals like:

Co-design digital and physical touchpoints to gamify
the challenge and empower your community.

A positive approach is the key to engage people and build a strong movement. For this purpose, MUV has developed highly customizable digital and physical tools.
The MUV game app aims at engaging the community, foster people to improve active mobility habits and crowdsource personal sustainable mobility data to be used in decision-making processes. The MUV monitoring stations aim at crowdsourcing environmental data also to be used as evidence in decision-making processes.
Adopt new/active mobility habits means to overcome a lot of frictions, MUV's tools are designed to make this process easy, attractive, timely and social.
TIPS AND TRICKS
If MUV tools don't fit your challenge/community don't panic and seek for something more/else. But be sure they are funny and personal data are protected.

Don't think twice and start play with your community!

Engaging your community might be the most rewarding human experience of this process. The communication can be framed in multiple ways according to your community and the challenge you're involved into: you can push the game with its sense of community and the individual rewarding experience, the data gathering and its meaning of empowering active citizens, the environmental impact because of the greener behaviors.
MUV has mapped multiple forms, both physical and digital, to do that. Let's check them and find out which ones suit more to your community and when they should be used.
TIPS AND TRICKS
Ask your friends that have bars, restaurants and shops to help you find some gifts or discounts for the game and use their places for events.
Ask your friends that have blogs or work on local newspapers and all of the stakeholders you've involved from day 1 to help you spread the voice.
Organize MUV app challenges and try to fire the competition: the more people play, the more impact you'll get.

CHAPTER 4 - DATA
With big data comes big responsibility

MUV mobility data belongs to the community that has produced it. If used it right, it can have a tremendous impact.
MUV has released open innovation workshop formats that allow educating citizens to understand mobility data intersect other datasets and trigger new ideas and solutions to improve urban liveability.
And of course always with a fun and engaging approach.
TIPS AND TRICKS
Try to get everyone actively involved: citizens, data geeks, mobility stakeholders, activists, politicians, researchers, professionals. These activities last at least 1 day, be sure to have coffee and sweets for all (and a prize for the hackathon might play a huge difference...).
Don't be scared if some new ideas and solutions sound crazy: they will help the MUV conversation going on.
