Rules – CLIMATE QUILTS PALERMO Challenge

1. Promoters

This challenge is an initiative of MUV B Corp in partnership with the University of Palermo, within the Climate Quilts project and SHARPER Night – European Researchers’ Night.

2. Duration

Challenge period: from 21/09/2026 to 30/09/2026.

3. Territorial area

The initiative is restricted to the territory of Sicily: only sustainable trips tracked within the region are counted. The challenge aims to promote more sustainable ways of moving around Sicilian cities.

4. How the initiative works

4.1 Who can take part?

The challenge is reserved for MUV Game users who:

🔹 are members and join the in-app community “CLIMATE QUILTS Palermo” inside the MUV Game app;
🔹 are located in Sicily and record their sustainable trips through the MUV Game app, using the supported modes.

To take part, simply join the “CLIMATE QUILTS Palermo” community from the app and start recording your sustainable trips in Sicily.

4.2 Challenge Goal

This is a Collaborative challenge, in which all players contribute to a collective score to reach three milestone thresholds.

✅ When each threshold is reached, all participants win a badge.
✅ The points collected by each participant add up to the overall total.
✅ The overall score determines whether the challenge goals are achieved.

4.3 How are points earned?

Participants earn points by recording their sustainable trips through the MUV Game app, provided that:

🔹 The trip is tracked through the app.
🔹 The route is validated by the automatic algorithms of the MUV service.

Trips that do not meet these requirements will not be counted towards the score.

5. Trip Tracking and Verification

The mechanism for tracking and verifying sustainable trips works as follows:

  • To record a sustainable trip, simply tap the “PLAY” button and select the chosen sustainable travel mode among those available. The modes supported by MUV for the challenge are: on foot, by bicycle, by e-bike/e-scooter, by electric motorbike/car, by public transport, by intercity bus, by train/metro and by car pooling.
  • Once tracking has started, information about the user’s location and activity will be collected, which is essential to validate the route.
  • During the trip you can change the travel mode by tapping the “SWITCH” button and selecting the icon for a different means of transport.
  • At the end of the trip, just select “STOP” to end tracking and start the automatic procedures to validate the route and assign the points.
  • Once the trip is completed, you can view the details of your trip and the points earned in the dedicated detail screen. If the trip was not validated by mistake, you can request a further check through the “Give us feedback” option in the trip detail screen or in the app’s side menu.
  • The points earned by the player for each certified sustainable route are proportional to the distance travelled and the mobility system used. In addition, extra bonuses are available, which proportionally increase the number of points earned based on several factors, including: weather conditions, altitude (only for walking or cycling routes), rush-hour times, home-work or home-school commutes and frequency of app usage.

Please note that, to enable tracking, you must turn on the device’s location services, used exclusively to validate sustainable trips and for statistical and research purposes.

For proper tracking, we recommend disabling features such as battery or power saving, which could interfere with route recording. MUV accepts no responsibility for the loss of GPS points or routes due to device anomalies, external interference such as internet disconnections or other third-party technical problems.

More details are available in the “Support” section of the app and in the Terms and Conditions of use.

6. Climate Quilts Place and Double Points

As part of SHARPER Night – European Researchers’ Night, a dedicated place is active at the University Campus of Viale delle Scienze (University of Palermo).

Only for the day of 25 September 2026, validated sustainable trips reaching the “Campus Viale delle Scienze” place earn double points.

The bonus is valid exclusively on 25/09/2026 and for trips that meet the tracking and validation requirements described in point 5.

7. Badges and Assignment
