This challenge is an initiative of MUV B Corp in partnership with the GALA 2026 organising committee, the international Games and Learning Alliance conference of the Serious Games Society, hosted by the University of L’Aquila (DISIM).
Challenge period: from 10/11/2026 at 12:00 PM to 19/11/2026 at 6:00 PM (Italian time).
The initiative is visible to participants located in Italy. For the purposes of the challenge, only sustainable trips that start from or arrive in the city of L’Aquila, home of the GALA 2026 conference (17–20 November 2026), are counted. The goal is to promote more sustainable modes of travel among conference participants.
The challenge is open to GALA 2026 conference participants who record their sustainable trips with departure from or arrival in the city of L’Aquila through the MUV Game app, using the supported modes. To take part, simply download the MUV Game app and join the challenge.
The challenge has two separate leaderboards. When joining, each participant chooses the category they belong to and takes part in the corresponding leaderboard:
🎓 PhD – PhD students;
👥 Participants – all other conference participants (faculty, researchers, partners, attendees, organisers).
Each participant competes for prizes only in the leaderboard of the category chosen when joining.
The challenge is collaborative: all players, in both categories, contribute to a collective score to reach three thresholds.
✅ Upon passing each threshold, all participants win a badge.
✅ The points accumulated by each participant are added to the general total and determine their position in the leaderboard of their category.
✅ The overall score determines the achievement of the objectives of the challenge.
Participants earn points by recording their sustainable trips through the MUV Game app, provided that:
🔹 The trip starts from or arrives in the city of L’Aquila.
🔹 The route is tracked through the app.
🔹 The route is validated by the automatic algorithms of the MUV service.
Trips that do not meet these requirements will not be counted for the purpose of scoring.
During the conference, from 17 to 19 November 2026, sustainable trips that start from or arrive at the GALA 2026 venue, the “Luigi Zordan” Congress Centre (Monastero di San Basilio, Piazza San Basilio 1, L’Aquila), earn double points.
The mechanism for tracking and verifying sustainable trips works in the following way:
It should be remembered that, in order to allow tracking, it is necessary to activate the device location services, used exclusively to validate sustainable trips and for statistical and research purposes.
For proper tracking, it is recommended to turn off functions such as battery or energy saving, which may interfere with route recording. MUV assumes no responsibility in case of loss of GPS points or routes due to device anomalies, external interference such as internet disconnections or other third-party technical issues.
More details are available in the “Support” section of the app and in the Terms and Conditions of Use.
Upon passing each collective score threshold, all participants win a badge.
First threshold – 250 points overall
→ the first MUV badge will be awarded.
Second threshold – 1,000 points overall
→ the second MUV badge will be awarded.
Third threshold – 5,000 points overall
→ the third MUV badge will be awarded.
In addition to the badges, 10 prizes provided by MUV are up for grabs: 5 for the PhD leaderboard and 5 for the Participants leaderboard. In each leaderboard the prizes are:
🥇 1st prize – €50 Feltrinelli voucher
🥈 2nd prize – €50 Feltrinelli voucher
🥉 3rd prize – €50 Feltrinelli voucher
🎁 4th prize – €50 Decathlon voucher
🎁 5th prize – €50 Decathlon voucher
The prizes are assigned by random draw, held separately for each leaderboard, among the best players, i.e. those with the highest score in the leaderboard of their category. The number of players eligible for the draw depends on the collective threshold reached at the end of the challenge:
🔹 First threshold reached → the 5 winners of each leaderboard are drawn from the top 10.
🔹 Second threshold reached → the 5 winners of each leaderboard are drawn from the top 15.
🔹 Third threshold reached → the 5 winners of each leaderboard are drawn from the top 20.
Prizes are matched in order of draw: the first player drawn receives the 1st prize, the second drawn the 2nd prize and so on up to the fifth drawn, who receives the 5th prize.
The higher your position in the leaderboard, the higher your chances of being drawn: better-ranked players receive a larger number of tickets for the draw. Each user can win only one prize.
Prizes will be delivered at the end of the challenge by MUV Game. Winners will receive the information and codes to use their vouchers via the app.
Winners may also be announced, by nickname, at the GALA 2026 social dinner on 19 November 2026.
📢 This initiative has charitable and social purposes, therefore it is not part of the prize events governed by the D.P.R. October 26, 2001, no. 430 (art. 6, paragraph e).
🔒 Protection of personal data
For the proper performance of the challenge, information on routes recorded through the app will be collected and processed.
✔️ All personal data will be handled in accordance with current privacy regulations.

📊 Use of data for research and teaching
By taking part in the challenge, users acknowledge and accept that the mobility data collected during the challenge, in anonymised form, may be made available to the GALA 2026 organising committee in aggregated form (dashboard with participation indicators, modal split, CO2 avoided and calories) and used for research and teaching purposes only, excluding any commercial use. Start and end points other than the conference venue (such as homes or accommodation) are obfuscated. Data is released under a Creative Commons CC BY licence and any reuse requires citing MUV as the source.
Employees of INAIL, LIST, ISPRA, Fondazione Unipolis, Fondazione CRT and many others have already turned colleagues into sustainable mobility athletes and actively contributed to reducing emissions.
Whether it is a sustainability project for employees or sponsorship for our champions, companies and organizations play as well the game of change.
