Last week the mural at the Liceo Scientifico Alessandro Volta in Turin was completed. The school had won the sustainable mobility tournament among upper secondary schools in Piedmont, which ended in June 2021. If you don’t know what we are talking about and need a “refresh”, feel free to take a step back and find out more about the Piedmont Tournament.
“Immaginare un futuro” is the name of the eco-mural of about 40 m², created in the courtyard of the Liceo Volta in Turin with the Airlite ecological paint by Air is Art, MUV partner and official sponsor of the tournament, which provides this special patented technology capable of eliminating air pollution and sanitising walls from bacteria and viruses.
The eco-mural is signed by Bernardo Scursatone, street artist of the Associazione Monkey Evolution. The design was conceived in May for the students who were about to face their final school exams. A very special moment in life when you ask yourself, perhaps for the first time, “What now? “What will I do?”. “The invitation is to take a moment to reflect, look at the sky and, why not, get bored, so as to listen to yourself and let your dreams emerge.” the artist tells us.

On Friday 21 October we took part in the inauguration event organised by the management of the Liceo Volta. In addition to the partners and the former class 5A, the class representatives of the current school year were there, in the hope that it may also inspire them and lead them to change towards new mobility habits.
Using 50 m² of Airlite has an ecological impact equivalent to: 2 trees planted, 11 Euro 6 petrol cars whose pollution is eliminated every day and 28.4 kg less CO₂ in the air.
In addition to reducing CO₂, Airlite’s properties include:
The sustainable mobility Tournament among upper secondary schools in Piedmont, run by MUV thanks to the support of Fondazione CRT, involved 354 students from 54 fourth- and fifth-year classes. In just six weeks of competition, they made 10,388 trips and 31,037 km were recorded by the MUV app, with total savings of more than 16 tonnes of CO₂. The data collected by the app were subsequently processed by DISAFA of the University of Turin and welcomed by the Piedmontese municipalities involved, with the aim of co-designing new solutions to improve urban mobility.
Our commitment to the school community does not stop. In March 2023 the MOB tournament will start, open to girls and boys aged 16 and over, and training has already begun!
Employees of INAIL, LIST, ISPRA, Fondazione Unipolis, Fondazione CRT and many others have already turned their colleagues into sustainable mobility athletes and actively helped reduce emissions.
Whether it is a sustainability project for employees or a sponsorship for our champions, companies and organisations are also playing the game of change.
