6. Scoring mechanism

6.1 Individual score

MUV assigns each player a score proportional to the sustainable trips recorded via the MUV Game app, according to the service’s validation algorithms. Points are calculated based on distance travelled and mobility mode used, with additional bonuses for: weather conditions, altitude (for walking or cycling routes), peak traffic hours, home-school commutes, and frequency of app use.

6.2 Team score

Each team’s weekly result is determined by the sum of the points scored by the team’s top 3 players (best players) for that week, plus the average score of all other players. The other players contribute to the team’s energy and visibility through their activity and are included in the calculation of the result via their average score

In the event of a change in the average number of participants per team, MUV reserves the right to adjust the number of best players taken into account, giving prior notice to all teams.

6.3 Match point allocation

In the group stage and finals, the team with the highest weekly score wins the match and receives 3 points in the standings.

7. Allowed mobility modes

The tournament is open to all sustainable mobility modes supported by the MUV Game app, in order to ensure inclusivity and promote the transition towards more responsible mobility. Supported modes include:

  • Walking
  • Cycling
  • Electric bike/scooter
  • Electric motorcycle/car
  • Public transport (metro, bus, tram)
  • Long-distance bus
  • Train
  • Carpooling

8. Trip tracking and validation

Sustainable trips are tracked and validated as follows:

  • Start: To record a sustainable trip, tap the PLAY button in the app and select your transport mode.
  • Data collection: Once tracking starts, location and activity data are collected, which are essential for trip validation.
  • Mode switch: During the trip, you can change the transport mode by tapping SWITCH and selecting the new mode.
  • End trip: At the end of the trip, tap STOP to trigger the automatic validation and points attribution process.
  • Details: Once the trip is complete, you can view its details and points earned on the dedicated screen. If a trip was not validated by mistake, you can request a review via the Give us feedback option in the app.

Location services must be enabled on your device and battery-saving features should be disabled to ensure accurate tracking. MUV is not responsible for GPS data loss due to device anomalies or third-party technical issues. Further information is available in the Support section of the app and in the Terms and Conditions of Use.
